Along with using color-safe products and heat protectants when styling, Haliti insists that safe-guarding your hair against environmental stressors is just as important to maintaining vibrancy. “UV rays from the sun can cause dullness and fading over time.” While sunlight isn’t really avoidable, she recommends making an effort to shield your hair when it’s been freshly dyed. The difference with this particular hue is that it’s a blend of cinnamon and copper blended together, notes hair stylist Frederic Fekkai. “The key is to create a good sense of light and brownish red,” he explains.
Warm caramel
Besides, low-maintenance doesn't mean boring, and for fall hair colors, there are more adventurous options you can DIY at home (just make sure to read up on our guide to coloring your hair at home first). If their natural hair color is black, adding red highlights is a sure-fire way to turn heads – and Magma by Blondor has you covered.
If you incorporate bright blond highlights into braids or twists like Julissa Calderon, above, just stick in a bundle of blonde braiding hair to fake it (meaning legit zero maintenance whatsoever). But if you want to dye your own hair, just ask your stylist to incorporate a shadow root or balayage to give you extra time between salon visits. Jet brunette is a “really deep, dark, noir brunette,” says Nicola Clarke, creative director at John Frieda Salons, whose clients include Kate Moss, Cate Blanchett and Madonna. When formulating red-based coppers, you’ll need to have a light hand when adding straight red shades into the formula.

She’s seen a trend of women, particularly brunettes, wanting to keep their natural color, but have it a bit enhanced. She calls this the “expensive brunette” look, which can be achieved with a subtle highlight or lowlight. One way to try this trend, Perkins explains, is to add a pop of red over brunette hair with a temporary mask like the Madison Reed Color Therapy Mask in Rubino. If you can’t choose between warm or cool tones, I think going for a wheat-blonde color would work! It has combinations of champagne and honey as well as some light brown roots, creating a nice, neutral look perfect for the fall. Or try @ariellelorre’s concept with a combination of wheat blonde roots and buttery highlights.

And if you thought the autumn leaves were just something pretty to look at, think again. They actually act as the perfect inspiration for some of the best hair color trends, ranging in shades from deep auburn and chocolate brown to rich honey blondes and icy-toned highlights. We collected a few tips from expert colorists, Caterina Alfieri and Richy Kandasamy to help guide you toward these trending transitional tones for autumn 2023. This fall, experts predict that the red hair trend will shift from vibrant to more muted shades — without sacrificing any richness. “As we enter the fall, I’ve noticed a rise in clients opting for hair colors that are more rich and full with less visible highlights,” celebrity hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos tells PEOPLE. Chocolate hair color relies on varying shades of radiant brown, as if you've mixed in a little caramel for an extra-delicious treat. Plus it provides a graceful transition as the hair grows so you don’t have to worry about messy roots. The transition from Summer to Fall equates to a fresh start in the hair world. For some, that might mean taking out braids and embracing natural texture; for others, it’s the most opportune time to get a big chop complete with a multitude of layers—maybe even some bangs. “During the summer, hair tends to become dry due to exposure to beachy environments and hot weather. It’s the ashy gray-brown tint of a portobello mushroom, and it makes for shiny looking hair that doesn’t even look like it’s been dyed. This hairstyle that @lexx.aguirre got is right between light brown and dark blonde, so talk to your stylist about trying a cool-toned “bronde” and adding light brown and dark blonde highlights. We will be seeing this deep, coffee-inspired color for brunettes, predicts Wiley.
Strawberry blonde

It’s all about "stealth wealth" these days, so instead of stark money pieces, we’re coveting something a little more suggestive. Beyonce’s golden pieces in the front look expensive, "but by diffusing it to the back we achieve a natural look with power in the front," says Mildice. It’s like swapping a Louis Vuitton monogram for a handcrafted leather bag you bought from an artisan in Milan — still beautiful, but more subtle. Of course, you’ll still be chasing roots as they grow out — but choosing a hue close to your natural color will help. Instead of the soft pinks of summer, we’re upping the ante with a smoky chili red. (Hari Nef, here, illustrates how spicy it can be.) It’s like swapping palomas for a spicy mezcal cocktail. While colorist Aura Friedman says this is a single-process color (in salon, since finding a perfect spicy red for your skin tone takes expertise) it's anything but low maintenance.
If you can’t decide between blunt fringe and cheek-bone grazing fringe, do as the jellyfish (and Natasha Lyonne) do and rock both. Hairstylist Devin Toth recommends using a flatiron to really separate chunky pieces around the face and enhance that multi-step angular look.

Plus, this makes this shade much easier to maintain (granted, you should still expect to coat your hair in a copper hair gloss—I personally like Glaze's Conditioning Gloss Treatment—every three to four weeks to upkeep). If you want to spice up your natural brown locks a little bit – front blonde highlights are definitely your thing! They will frame your face beautifully and keep the sun reflection on your dark hair, reminding you of those pleasant summer days. Unlike the spring or summer season that can stand any hair color experiment, each autumn establishes the trend for calmer, more natural shades. Elevate your hairstyle with a new tint or subtle balayage to look gorgeous and in trend. “Most blondes who ask for lowlights or to go darker wind up hating it because they love being as bright as possible,” warns Dosso.

“The key is keeping the highlight tone within four shades of the base color to avoid any harsh lines.” What’s more, the trending color can lean either cool-toned or warm-toned, depending on your preference and skin tone. Looking for a low-maintenance hair hue that doesn’t require frequent salon visits? “A bronde balayage is the perfect color if you’re a blonde looking to transition into something deeper for fall or if you’re a natural brunette looking to add some dimension to your hair,” Papanikolas shares. A California Native originally from a small town in South Orange County, Tylor has always been inspired by the sun kissed look of a child’s hair at the beach.
Sun-Kissed Brunette
This color is way bolder than the common red, and contains deeper tones and hues. When I think of dark red, I think of burgundy, wine red, and even chestnut. This hair color from @abbeybrookee is a perfect berry deep red, and if you’re a natural redhead, it will really enhance your tresses. Mushroom tones are a perennial fall classic, and it's not hard to see why. This multi-dimensional shade gives off the same earthy-neutral brown as a Portobello mushroom, hence the name. "It keeps the hair healthy versus over-lightening, which can result in more damage," adds Gibson.
With every season, we're introduced to endless trends that populate our social media feeds; making it challenging to differentiate the ones that deserve your attention from those that aren't worth your while. This ~sweet~ shade is a fun twist on the copper hair trend we saw everywhere in 2022 (yup, I tried it too). Not only is it slightly lighter than last year’s trend, but it also has a peachy undertone that keeps it from falling into true-orange territory. Just remember that pink, orange, and red tones fade the fastest, so to prolong your shade, swap out your regular conditioner for a color-depositing conditioner instead.
If that captures your interest, you'll want to keep scrolling and take screenshots for your next trip to the salon or beauty supplier. Don't worry about running out of ideas—there's more than enough inspiration ahead to carry us through the next couple of months and well into winter. During Paris Haute Couture Week in July, Giannetos created an Old Hollywood-chic look for Camila Cabello using a thick black headband to pull her long, sleek hair away from her face and add glamorous volume.

No matter which one out of top 2024 fall hair colors you choose to experiment with, we’re sure you’ll make a great choice. Some of the listed ideas work better for dark hair colors and others are more suited for blondes, but virtually everyone can find a pretty color trend in this list to get their hair in tune with natural fall colors. Rather than stick to your same ol' hair color for another season, consider mixing it up with some of the ridiculously pretty fall hair colors we've seen popping up on celebs and models recently. The toiletries in the bathroom were great as well. Guests are required to show a photo ID and credit card upon check-in. Self parking was easy and convenient. Lots of restaurants and bars in the vicinity. This hotel was highly rated for its very comfy beds.

Nice to have a fridge and microwave to make tea. Free bottled water in the lobby was very welcome. The breakfast was hot and offered exceptionally delicious items (including gluten free). The rooms were clean and sanitized well. This is a carousel with rotating slides. It displays featured reviews of the property.
Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate. It was more like a suite, with living room and kitchenette although we didn’t need or use it. Our original room had damages to room and furniture as well as poor view of a brick wall. I informed the Assistant Manager Ms. Coakley of our concerns and she upgraded our room to a suite with city views! Great customer service from management! Selection and quality of food for breakfast was great .
There is also the added convenience of an in-house restaurant. There are no extra beds available at this property. I liked our room on the 9th floor, but it was expensive.

The bed was very comfortable and provided an excellent sleep! Breakfast was generally good, although one day the breakfast meat was corned beef hash (really? corned beef hash is a breakfast meat??). Overall, room was very quiet despite the occupancy of the property. I needed a conveniently located pet friendly hotel for my husband and I sleep on a long road trip from Maine to DC.
